We are first in the UK to offer Arthrosamid
What is Arthrosamid?
Arthrosamid is a revolutionary safe and sustained injection to help patients suffering from knee arthritis. It is a non-biodegradable hydrogel, containing 97.5% water and 2.5% cross-linked polyacrylamide backbone.
The new injection has proven to reduce stiffness between the joints, enhancing mobility and improving the quality of life.
How does it work?
Arthrosamid is injected into the inner joint cavity, which helps to restore the viscosity within the synovial fluid. This further helps lubricating and cushioning the joint, creating a 'cushion-like' effect. This all works with a single dose of injection, lasting up to 56 weeks.
No pain, simple steps
Step 1: Swab the area around the knee. Local anaesthetic is used to numb the area.
Step 2: Removable of joint effusion. With the help of ultrasound, the injection is performed.
Step 3: Needle is removed and a plaster is placed over the injected site.
Prof Paul Lee thoughts on Arthrosamid...
Arthrosamid is a new injection treatment for patients with knee arthritis, it is a lot thicker and more viscose than other substances we have used before. It is like putting a ’silicone’ into the joint in the knee to cushion it.
There are great clinical results from Europe and it is a high-quality product from Copenhagen. Our patients typically travelled to Europe to have the Arthrosamid injection and COVID-19 has made this very difficult. We are very proud to be the first clinic in the UK to be able to offer this innovative treatment for our patients in Harley Street.
